<p>Use topic-level Help when you want to find information on any Polaris function. </p>
|
||||
<p>Open topic-level Help, by selecting one of the following options:</p>
|
||||
<ul type="disc">
|
||||
<li>From the Polaris Shortcut Bar, press <b>ALT+H</b> or and press <b>P</b>, or select <b>Help, Polaris Topics</b>.</li>
|
||||
<li>From the Find Tool, select <b>Help, Find Tool Topics</b>.</li>
|
||||
<li>From a workform, select <b>Help, Subsystem Help Topics</b>.</li>
|
||||
</ul>
|
||||
<p class="indent2">The Polaris Staff Help window appears. The location from which you access Help determines the content that displays in the window. If you access Help from the Polaris Shortcut Bar, the Help window opens with topics relating to the Shortcut Bar and Polaris menus. If you access Help from the Find Tool, the Help window opens with topics relating to using the Find Tool. If you access Help from a workform, the Help window opens with topics relating to the workform’s subsystem. You can navigate to other topics no matter how you first accessed the Help window.</p>

<p class="indent2">The right pane of the Polaris Staff Help window displays topic information. The left pane is used for searching and navigation.</p>
|
||||
<p>To navigate through the staff Help table of contents, do the following:</p>
|
||||
<p class="NoteShade"><b>Note:<br /></b>The table of contents displays help topics in a tree view as they would be organized in a book. The table of contents shows the book hierarchy and how topics are related to each other, and lets you progress from topic to topic. If you have a topic displayed in the right pane, you can click the Contents tab to see where the topic appears in the hierarchy.</p>

<li>Click the <b>Contents</b> tab in the left pane.</li>

||||
<li>Double-click the main topic to display subtopics.</li>
|
||||
<li>Double-click the main topic to hide subtopics.</li>

<p>To use the index, do the following:</p>

<p class="NoteShade"><b>Note:<br /></b>The index displays help topics in alphabetical order. Use the index for most searches unless the term is uncommon. You may also find useful cross-references and alternate terms.</p>

<li>Click the <b>Index</b> tab in the left pane.</li>
|
||||
<li>Type the term you are searching for (or the first few letters) in the <b>Type in the keyword to find</b> box.</li>
|
||||
<li>The index displays the alphabetical part of the list that includes the term you typed.</li>
|
||||
<li>Double-click the topic in the list, or select the topic and click <b>Display</b>.</li>
|
||||
<li>The topic appears in the right pane.</li>
|
||||

<p>To search for a keyword term, do the following:</p>

For example, you could use the Search tab when looking for information on Z39.50. But if you are looking for information on bibliographic records, you will get more useful results using the Index tab.</p>

||||

<p class="NoteShade"><b>Tip:<br /></b>You can display the Search page directly from a workform or the Polaris Shortcut Bar by selecting <b>Help, Search For Help On</b>.</p>

<li>Double-click the entry, or select the entry and click <b>Display</b>.</li>

<p class="indent2">The topic appears in the right pane. Each instance of the term is highlighted.</p>

<p>To navigate through a topic displayed in the right pane, use these controls:</p>

<li>Press the down arrow or up arrow on the right side of the window to scroll through the topic.</li>
|
||||
<li>Click links in the topic information to display related information.</li>
|
||||
<li>Click the book icons in the table of contents on the left panel to see other topics.</li>

<li>See where the displayed topic appears in the table of contents. With the topic displayed in the right pane, click the <b>Contents</b> tab to see the topic in the tree view. You can select another heading to see other procedures or an overview.</li>

<p class="NoteShade"><b>Tip:<br /></b>When you search using the <b>Search</b> or <b>Index</b> tab, and you need to see the topic in context or you need to go back to an overview, you can click the <b>Contents</b> tab.</p>

<p>To save a topic link to frequently access the topic, do the following:</p>

||||

||||
<li>Display the topic.</li>
|
||||
<li>Click the <b>Favorites</b> tab in the left pane.</li>
|
||||
<li>If you want to change the name of the topic link, type the new name over the existing name in the <b>Current topic</b> box.</li>

<li>Click <b>Add</b>.</li>
|
||||

<p class="indent2">The new topic link appears in the Topics list.</p>

||||
<p class="NoteShade"><b>Notes:<br /></b>- To display a Favorite topic, select the topic link in the Topics list, and click <b>Display</b>. <br />- To delete a topic link from Favorites, select the topic link in the Topics list, and click <b>Remove</b>.</p>
