<h1>Polaris Application Overview</h1>
|
||
<p><a name="kanchor4432"></a><a name="IX_architecture"></a>Polaris is a Microsoft Windows-based client-server application. Staff members use staff client software, while the server stores, retrieves, and protects data. </p>
|
||
<p>Library staff and administrators use the staff client to do administrative, technical services, and patron services tasks.</p>
|
||
<p>Your patrons may use one or a combination of the following Web-based applications:</p>
|
||

||
<li>Polaris<span class="FM_SuperScript">®</span> PowerPAC<span class="FM_SuperScript">™</span> provides Web-based access to library searches and services from remote computers, and from computers in the library. </li>
|
||
<li>Polaris<span class="FM_SuperScript">®</span> PowerPAC<span class="FM_SuperScript">™ </span>Children’s Edition is the Web-based application designed specifically for children’s use.</li>
|
||
<li>Polaris<span class="FM_SuperScript">®</span> Mobile PAC<span class="FM_SuperScript">™</span> is the Web-based public access catalog that has been optimized for mobile devices. It provides simplified access to many of the features that are available in Polaris PowerPAC. </li>
|
||

||
<p>Your Polaris system may also include Polaris ExpressCheck client workstations for self-check and patron account access, Polaris Inventory Manager software and hardware, and other related products.</p>
|
